Symphony of a Thousand to entertain Hanoi millennium

Symphony No. 8 by Austrian composer and conductor Gustav Mahler, also known as Symphony of a Thousand, will be played at a special art performance in 2010 to celebrate the Thang Long-Hanoi millennium.  
        
The Vietnam Symphony Orchestra said the programme is expected to become a special international event to attract foreign tourists to Hanoi and   Vietnam   as well.  
       
The masterpiece will be performed by the 90-strong Vietnam Symphony Orchestra as core with the support of 30 musicians from other bands, 3 sopranos, 2 contraltos, one tenor, one baritone and one basso.  
       
A grand concert performed by 1,000 singers, half of whom are foreigners, will illustrate the performance. A 140 - children orchestra will add colours to the concert.  
       
Famous Japanese conductor Honna Tetsuji will make the final note of the beautiful tune of the live show, which is to be aired on the national TV./.
