Hanoi bourse upgraded to stock exchange

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has given the go-ahead to the Hanoi Securities Trading Centre (HASTC) to turn itself into the Hanoi Stock Exchange.

The Hanoi Stock Exchange will operate under the model of a State-owned one-member limited liability company, according to the PM’s Decision 01/2009/QD-TTg.

The stock exchange has a charter capital of 1 trillion VND (roughly 58.8 million USD), including the amount of capital transferred from the HASCT.

It will inherit all rights and obligations from HASTC as well as fulfill those set out in the Securities Law and the Enterprise Law.-Enditem

Hanoi, foreign ministry join hands to celebrate capital’s 1000th birthday

Hanoi (VNA) – The   Hanoi   municipal People’s Committee and the Foreign Ministry have inked an agreement on cooperation in organising the celebration of the 1000th founding anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi during 2009-2010.
     
 Under the Jan. 5 agreement, the Foreign Ministry will call upon UNESCO to recognise Thang Long ancient citadel as the world heritage site and to issue a resolution on the celebration of the capital’s 1000 th founding day.
 
The ministry will also adopt a plan to promote the image of   Hanoi   at international forums and through Vietnamese representative offices abroad. 
    
 It will launch a campaign to found a club of the world’s 1,000-year-old cities and capitals.
 
On the occasion, foreign-related cultural activities will be held within the framework of the 2009 cultural diplomatic year. These will include “Hanoi Cultural Days” in Paris, the erection of a monument of a “City for Peace” and the implementation of the “Vietnam destination in 2010” project.
    
 Addressing the signing ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem said the cooperation between the ministry and   Hanoi   administration is of great significance in 2009, a year of diplomatic cultural activities, marking a milestone in the relationship between the two agencies.
 
 Hanoi’s Party Committee Secretary Pham Quang Nghi said the agreement manifests the two agencies’ desire to make the most of external activities to promote the images of Hanoi and Vietnam to foreign countries./.
