Cherry blossom festival to be held in Hanoi

The 3rd annual Cherry Blossom Festival is scheduled to take place in   Hanoi   from April 10-12, with a plethora of cultural activities highlighting Vietnam-Japan friendship included in the agenda.      
       
Up to 600 branches of Sakura flowers will be flown in from   Japan   to entertain up to 200,000 anticipated local attendees, according to the Vietnam-Japan Cultural Exchange Association.

Apart from viewing the blossoms, visitors will have the opportunity to taste traditional dishes of both countries, enjoy fashion shows and calligraphy, and participate in a fair showcasing Vietnamese and Japanese traditional products.     
 
Visitors can also take an ‘imaginary tour’ of Japan, through a series of pictures, photos and posters of the country’s landscapes.

As many as 600 Vietnamese and Japanese artists will jointly perform the Yosakoi – a traditional dance specifically performed at   Japan  ’s cherry blossom festivals.

Organised since 2007, the cherry blossom festival has attracted increasing numbers of visitors, up from just 10,000 in its first year, to 120,000 in 2008./.
